The Fringe collection is a textile collection based on the Mattress fabric Roos designed for the Hotel the Exchange in Amsterdam. For this fabric Roos pealed open a mattress, the glue pattern inside was intriguing: the glue was sprayed on mechanically, thus graphic, but since the glue was fluid the graphic pattern had transformed into organic shapes. This was the inspiration for the design of the fabrics. Soetekouw drew, scanned, painted, printed and repeated this over and over until the pattern looked the way it does now.
